Here at Appetize, in addition to thinking about ways to make the food and beverage ordering experience more safe and secure, we’ve also been thinking about how to empower our customers to engage and support their communities.

Today, we are announcing the release of “Round Up for Charity” in the Appetize POS and Kiosk platforms, which enables operators to automatically prompt customers and guests to “round up” their payment in support of a charitable cause or initiative.  The new features are included in the latest release of the Appetize POS platform, available for all clients.

“Our restaurant, campus, and venue partners are an integral part of their local communities, and they care about the causes that their guests support. When everyone gives a little through Round Up for Charity, together we can give a lot.”

“Round Up for Charity” Feature Enables Charitable Giving

at the Point of Sale

Appetize’s check-rounding capabilities are delivered in the latest release of our Activate and Interact product lines, the company’s cashier and guest-facing solutions. Within the Appetize Connect management console, operators can configure the solution to offer guests the opportunity to round up their check based upon any increment or interval.

Alternatively, Operators can also configure the new feature to automatically round down guest receipts to the nearest five, ten, or whole dollar increment, to simplify transactions and reduce coin management.

Operators can select the charity of their choice. Promotional messages, imagery, and information about the transaction and donation can be easily configured in Appetize Connect and presented to the guest via a customer-facing display at the POS or on-screen at kiosks or on handhelds. Enhanced reporting enables operators to quickly account for, and report upon, donated funds.

An Era of Socially-Minded Guests and Businesses

This is a set of capabilities that aligns well with modern customer thinking, too.  According to the New York-based research firm Change for Good:

  • 72% of customers have donated at a register during a POS transaction
  • 92% have a positive image of companies that have a charitable component
  • 91% of Millennials would be more loyal to a company that helps them contribute to social and environmental issues

With the release of our new “Round Up for Charity” features, we hope to make it easier for large enterprises to drive support for worthy causes seamlessly, as part of every transaction.  It is part of our commitment to provide the most full-featured, scalable, and human-centric POS on the market.
